October Wedding with Autumnal Theme

Twelve months before the wedding, after the initial consultation, Laura and Rob booked and secured the date with us to supply the flowers for their wedding.

A good place to start is with the colour scheme of the bridesmaid’s dresses. Once this is established this often will determine the theme throughout the whole wedding. We worked with them over the following months and liaised with our Dutch suppliers, who were able to advise us on availability and the all-important cost of products.

The Planning…

We suggest that our brides compile a collection of pictures and ideas from magazines and the internet and build up their own individual mood board. Around 6 weeks before the wedding we arranged a final consultation. By this time we were able to suggest seasonally available flowers, foliages and berries to stay with the autumnal theme.

The bridesmaids fabric was shot taffeta chocolate/bronze trimmed with a lovely rust taffeta sash. The three bridesmaids carried hand tied posies, where we suggested a beautiful Rose called “Cherry Brandy” which had rich burnt orange tones, complimented by Hypericum berries and Galax leaves.

The groom, Rob, wore a mango Calla Lily buttonhole, which complimented his rust cravat. This also made him stand out from his best man and ushers, who opted for a “Cherry Brandy” Rose.

The bride, Laura, carried an elegant, wired hand shower bouquet consisting of rust “Vanda” Orchids, mango Calla Lilies, “Cherry Brandy” Roses and trailing foliages including Bear Grass.

For The Ceremony…

The service was held at Christchurch, Barnston, which is a traditional village church. The arch at the entrance was draped with foliages, berries and Hydrangea heads in the deep tones of autumn. Inside, we dressed the windowsills beneath the beautiful stained glass windows, with church candles which flickered, nestled amongst vibrant orange Gerberas, berries and the trailing leaves. This created a glowing warm ambience in the church. The theme was carried through to the arrangement on the lectern which made a striking focal point, where the ceremony was to take place.

For The Reception…

In contrast, the Reception was held in a more contemporary setting at “The Mollington” Chester. For the tables, we used tall elegant glass candlesticks which held arrangements 80cm high so not to not obstruct the guests vision across the table. Following the autumnal colour scheme, the choice of flowers here was modern and stylish to suit the decor. We used rich, red Anthuriums, trailing golden Euphorbia and “Cherry Brandy” roses which created a stunning effect.

As a finishing touch Laura and Rob arranged for two thank you bouquets for the two Mothers, which were presented at the Wedding Breakfast.
